History

The late Basil Michaelides

In 1972 Basil Michaelides visited Knysna to collect some chairs he had ordered from a local furniture manufacturer for his small children. During this visit an opportunity arose for him to acquire a local accounting practice.

This was the start of the family business Michaelides & Co

1972

Peter Michaelides

In 2006 Basil was joined by his son Peter Michaelides who returned from working as a Chartered Accountant in the United Kingdom and since then the company has grown from strength to strength expanding its operations to cover the rapidly growing Garden Route area and growing needs of its clients.

2006

Claire Kretzmann

In 2007 Claire Kretzmann joined as audit manager after qualifying with Deloitte & Touche and became a partner in 2010.

2007

Tanya Factor

Tanya Factor moved to the Garden Route from Johannesburg in 2007 with her young family and was appointed as audit manager in 2009. MPK was very pleased to offer her a position as a partner in 2014.

2009

Lindi Leibbrandt

Lindi Leibbrandt started working for Basil in 2003 and completed all her studies part time while doing articles achieving great academic success by coming joint first in the UNISA accounting honours program. Lindi qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor and became a director in 2018.

The MPK team comprises of 25 professional and support staff with specialists in taxation, estate administration, financial planning and wealth management.

The MPK team is very proud of its history and reputation for giving outstanding service and being able to assist so many clients in different aspects of their life.

Peter Michaelides

Qualification: B Com (Hons) CA (SA)

Peter Michaelides qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 completing articles at Deloittes in Port Elizabeth. After working as a Chartered Accountant in the United Kingdom he returned to his home town of Knysna in 2006 to join his father in the family audit and accounting practice.

Peter focuses on managing Pro Wealth as Key Individual and when he is not busy structuring and monitoring client investments he performs accounting and tax structuring for the firm’s clients, acting as trust advisor and performing estate planning and deceased estate administration.

When Peter is not at his desk he can be found fulfilling his passion of open water swimming in the beautiful Knysna lagoon.

Claire Kretzmann

Qualification: B.Com (Rat) Law (Hons) CA (SA)

In 2007 Claire Kretzmann joined MPK as audit manager after qualifying with Deloitte & Touche in Port Elizabeth and after becoming a partner in 2010 she established the Plettenberg Bay branch. Claire’s technical knowledge and skills with her Excel expertise has been a great asset to the company.

Claire is a technical allrounder and her skill set enables her to look after all aspects of the client relationship and client types.

Claire is married to Russell who has Keystone Projects a construction company and when Claire is not working she can be found assisting at her Church or one of the local charities, or spending time baking and being creative with her two gorgeous daughters.

Tanya Factor

Qualification: B Com (Hons) CA (SA)

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2006, Tanya completed her training with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Pretoria. She then became a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria and worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co in Johannesburg before moving to Knysna with her young family in 2007.

In 2014 Tanya was appointed as a partner in MPK.

Tanya has a wonderful laid back nature and brings so much happiness and life to the otherwise boring accountants with her quirky nature and wacky dress sense, but at the same time still manages to impress with her audit and technical skills.

Tanya loves to spend her free time playing golf, scrapbooking or spending time with her children.

Lindi Leibbrandt

Qualification: B Com (B Acc) CA (SA)

Lindi grew up in Namibia and started working for MPK in 2003. She completed all her studies part time while doing articles achieving great academic success by coming joint first in the UNISA accounting honours program.

Lindi enjoys auditing and technical financial accounting, doing complicated tax structuring and loves researching the various complexities of the Income tax and other Acts that we are all faced with on a daily basis.

Lindi has a great love for the firm, its clients and staff after 15 years of being with MPK (her other family) and this is reflected in the quality of work and service she produces.

Lindi and her husband enjoy the challenging game of golf in their limited spare time while running after their toddler.
